The first show to be filmed live before a studio audience, I love Lucy is just as beloved today as it was when it premiered on October 15, 1951. One of the greatest sitcoms of all time, I Love Lucy is seen daily by millions of viewers coast-to-coast, and in dozens of countries worldwide. The universal popularity of the one-of-a-kind classic is a tribute to the themes of friendship and love, combined with the humor of the often “sticky” situations shared by Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel. Here’s a highlight from one of the most requested episodes, which aired frist on May 5, 1952.
Ricky gets a job as a host of a television show, and Lucy, as usual, schemes to be part of the act. She lands the part of the “Vitameatavegamin Girl” in the show’s commercial, but after several rehaearsals the product gets the better of our heroine, and she manages, once again, to botch Ricky’s big chance.
