*(Daena, Planet Of The Apes)*
*Daena was a rebellious female member of the human “Tek” clan and daughter of Sarai and Karubi.
*She lived in the jungles surrounding Ape City Along with her father.
*She was captured by the slave driver Limbo and sold to the chimpanzee activist, Ari.
*She escaped with Leo Davidson into the Forbidden Zone and rallied her people into revolt against ape power.
*Daena is based on Nova from the original 1968 movie, although a chimp character named Nova also features in this movie.
*Her he name is of a Persian goddess.
*In the first treatment of William Broyles’ story, Daena is a beautiful human slave in the city of Derkein, unrelated to Karubi .
*In the first draft script, Daena has become the loyal daughter of ‘Kirubi’ (as in the film).
*After an opening battle between the humans of the Clonfert Confederation and the apes of the Derkein Empire, Daena flees to the Garuda Republic, taking Leo’s crashed space-pod with her.
*Gunnar is Daena’s partner, but is sent to his death in the gladiator arena of Derkein.
*This beautiful, tough human trusts no one. She’s dedicated to her family and to the fight for humankind.
*She is defiant in the face of persecution by apes and will fight to the death for any hope of improving the plight of humans.
